Antonio Guillen was invited to give a presentation at the meeting of the STEP Cheshire branch on the 28TH March 2019 that took place in the Holiday Inn. His talk related to Spanish Wills, estates and taxation from the perspective of British clients residents in the UK.
Among other matters, Antonio talked about the applicable law to the estates of British citizens and the potential conflicts of law that can arise due to the implementation of the EU Regulation on Succession. Some of the conclusions reached in the seminar were the convenience of having a Spanish Will for the Spanish assets that can go parallel to the UK Will and the potential tax implications that Brexit can have on those British citizens that own property in Spain.
The talked was then followed by a very interesting talk on fraud and forgery in UK Wills by barrister Elis Gomer with some real cases that proved very helpful to the delegates, who in most cases dealt with the drafting of Wills for their clients.
Antonio said: “This is the third time that I speak for STEP Cheshire. It is always a pleasure to be back here with such a welcoming audience and I look forward to do the same again in the future.”
